Mikayla's fictional directorial debut, Paper Daisies invites us into the childhood home of 16-year-old Ariah, as we are tossed into seemingly mundane snapshots of her life. Slowly, however, this world of family comfort and security begins to feel more and more distant, and eventually Ariah must learn to distinguish between her memory and reality.

Featuring in competition, Paper Daisies (2023) had it's World Premiere at Taiwan Film Festival in Australia in July 2024. ​
